Mobile Games Statistics

When compared to other countries, Brazil's mobile game penetration is promising, especially when analyzed alongside anticipated annual growth rates:

  • Brazil's mobile games revenue amounted to $280 million in 2017. The current mobile game market size isn't far behind Spain, which reached $360 million in 2017, or Italy, approximately $350 million in 2017.
  • The current mobile market size in Brazil is encouraging, especially considering compound annual growth rates (CAGR) of 6.7% in Brazil (2017-2022), compared to Italy's 6.6% and Spain's 5.3%.
  • Ubisoft's Managing Director of Latin America anticipated about 208 million mobile devices in Brazil by the end of 2017.
  • Brazilian mobile gamers more likely to pay than other BRIC mobile gamers (Russia, India, China - each of which are equally exciting emerging markets for the games industry).

Console gaming is viable in emerging markets like Brazil! Remember that video game consoles represent nearly half of all games revenue generated by Latin America (LatAm), with a 9% yearly growth rate.

  • The PlayStation has become the most dominant console.

  • However, locally manufactured consoles led to a price reduction - thereby increasing legal gaming consoles.
  • In addition, taxes contributing to higher game prices have also been reduced, leading to an increase in legal video game sales.
